That would most certainly be my method of choice too. I don't really mind sewing y-seams, but I'm always afraid I won't get the top flat if I mess around too much.
I too love home-days and actually plan them once in a while, just like a little vacation from everyday life.
Ellie is so cute, she's growing so fast and a puzzle-finisher already.-)Nina Lise@Mrs Moenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04943912994076653225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1841225053502792199.post-5056603144504585302011-01-12T08:57:28.430-07:002011-01-12T08:57:28.430-07:00Both quilts are lovely...especially intrigued with...Both quilts are lovely...especially intrigued with the star quilt. I really like the pink and green log cabin blocks and the white sashing set them off perfectly.Stray Stitches (Linda G)https://www.blogger.com/profile/13745220686468103536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1841225053502792199.post-45885695680838910102011-01-11T04:00:36.160-07:002011-01-11T04:00:36.160-07:00I love the star quilt and the log cabin one. I'm also of the school of thought which says measure the side, add an inch at least then cut it in half diagonally.QuiltSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18121195815836334067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1841225053502792199.post-40504355030006471102011-01-10T22:09:30.199-07:002011-01-10T22:09:30.199-07:00Hi, Lynda, mm, more cute stuff here. I love on point, but do not like the bias mess, ugh.
:-}pokeyPokeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12546013812822816960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1841225053502792199.post-7223653408811098242011-01-10T21:56:50.448-07:002011-01-10T21:56:50.448-07:00sorry, I just realized that I missed to say that w...sorry, I just realized that I missed to say that when you measure the side of the corner block it should be without the seam allowance.Oops-Lahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00328995074425733481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1841225053502792199.post-63719261883098088432011-01-10T21:50:16.749-07:002011-01-10T21:50:16.749-07:00I just love your star quilt. For your corner block; I would cut two squares, 7/8 inch bigger than the side of the corner, then cut them diagonally. I usually add 1 inch instead of 7/8 and then cut them back to the correct size after I've sewn the corner blocks on. Not very scientific but it works for me.Oops-Lahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00328995074425733481noreply@blogger.com
