I'm a bit embarrassed!

Yes, I am a bit embarrassed.  Two more tops that just needed borders!
I've mentioned my friend, Janine, before.  She buys fabric enough for
both of us to make a quilt.  Over a year ago she wanted to make a
Christmas Turning Twenty.
Soft flannels in red, green and tan.
Now that the borders are on, I'm happy.

Not even sure when I started this one.  I know I purchased the fabrics
for a 3D butterfly quilt.  Then I lost interest in that idea.
Saw a Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorial and
decided these fabrics were perfect for that.
Just needed borders AGAIN.
I used 4 different fabrics from the center of the quilt
for each border.
Another top completed!

Off to the next one.

Another top done

Patriotic Stars

The center of this quilt has been complete for quite some time.  Once again, the fabric came from my friend, Leslie.
I added a small red border
then
used up several more of the 4 patches.
It is about 56 inches square and will look nice on
the couch next July.

Such a great idea to finish just the top and count it done.

Now to dig through the pile and see what to work on next!

Purple Sensation

A couple of years ago my friend, Janine, gave me a bunch of squares of purple fabrics.  I do love purple!  Decided to make a bunch of HST's and put together this quilt top from them.

Originally I was going to border in bright yellow and the 2nd border would be purple and yellow.  Couldn't find any purple and yellow fabric that I wanted but found this wonderful purple and green fabric.  So changed to a tiny green border and added the outer border.

Would you believe..........I just noticed a big mistake!!!
Now, do I take it apart and fix it or just leave it?

Update:  Only took 10 minutes but offending HST is now turned 1/4 turn and sewn back in place.
Quilt is much happier now.

My goal over the next few weeks is to gather all the partially finished quilt tops and finish them.  I'm not going to worry about the backing or the quilting for now.  Just finish the top!!

Hopefully that will clean up my sewing room of some piles of unfinished items.  I have made myself a promise not to start any more..........not even one more.........quilt until I have cleaned out all the partially finished tops.

Let's see if I can do just that!

Baby quilt top for Nora Mae

I only saved 2 of my Dad's shirts......not enough!
This one and a pink one were my favorites.
He wore them a lot.
I  cut some from the pink one I put in a quilt for my nephew.
I may still have enough to make a pillow from that.
This one I decided to make into a pillow first and use scraps for a quilt later..
I really should have saved more and made a pillow for each of his grandchildren.
Hind sight.........

My niece, who has 4 active boys, is going to have a sweet little girl.
Of course she needs a quilt from Aunt Lynda.
I didn't like the way the corner looked with the
stripes going the wrong way in half of the
4 patch.

So I had to take them apart and twist the one
corner stripe of the 4 patch
and sew it back in.
I like that much better!

Here is the top complete.
After the initial cutting of the pieces,
it went quite quickly.
Now on to making a scrappy back and
then off to the quilters
in time for the baby shower
the middle of May.

Bryce and his quilt!

Here is Bryce and his quilt.
This is the 3rd quilt for this family.
I love getting big smiles and hugs
from these amazing young men.
He did tell me he wasn't graduating.
Luckily he was just kidding!

I took a quilt to the quilter on Saturday.  Should be ready this coming weekend.

Still working on my purple quilt.  Can't seem to find the perfect border yet.

Also working on the patriotic quilt I started at the last retreat.

Need to get busy on a baby girl quilt for my niece.  She is having a little girl after having
4 energetic little boys.

Basket of Bunnies and Easter Eggs

My granddaughter, Sweet Ellie, spent the night with us
last night.  She likes to sew a project while she is here
so we made Easter Bunnies last night.
This morning she got up and wanted to make
Easter Eggs to go with the Bunnies.
Here she is stuffing!
(I know, I know......stacks of fabric everywhere!  But
this is clean compared to what it usually looks like!!!)

Ellie wanted to show each of the 9 Bunnies and Eggs that she made.

And the whole basket of Bunnies and Eggs.

We love having our grandchildren spend the night individually.  That way we get to spend lots of time doing just what they want to do.  So far we have made cinnamon roll bunnies, ride on her bike, gone to the park, picked up McDonalds, sewn bunnies, watched a movie, read books, slept a little, made Easter eggs, had breakfast, taken pictures and already at 9 a.m. she wants to head to the new park now.  She has planned putting a puzzle together, play the piano, maybe make cookies, play trains with Grandpa and Barbies with me, and I can see her mind thinking of what else she can do before it is time to go home.

Love this time together.

Finally! Some finishes!!!

I have loved the elongated Shoo Fly for quite some time and knew I would
finally make one.  When I saw these cheerful fabrics,
I knew these would be perfect for this block.

I especially loved the black fabric with
summer BBQ fun
printed on it.
I think the black sashing really
showcased the bright blocks.

I did make a FEW too many blocks
so ended up using them on the back.
I really love this quilt!

I was given a lot of green fabrics from my friend, Leslie.
I added a few of my own and made this Rail Fence Quilt.
I had sewn several blocks together not caring where
the light, medium and dark were placed.
Didn't like that at all!
So I took them apart and sewed them back together
with the lights forming a pinwheel design.
From this picture you can barely see the black pinwheel.

This picture shows the black pinwheel a little better.
Some of the greens were so dark the black pinwheel
almost disappeared.
It really is a beautiful play on it's name tho.......
"The Grass is always Greener".
This quilt is for a High School Senior graduating in a few months.

We have a son who is getting married soon.
This quilt will be a gift to them.
I love red and white quilts!

Meeting Monica for the first time we were delighted by her
vibrant personality and joy for life.
Red seemed like the perfect color for their quilt.

Once again I am cleaning my sewing room.  Why does it never stay clean!!! I was looking for the cord to my camera and thought I might have put it with some stuff for a retreat.  I haven't found the cord but I have had a ball finding other things.  I would straighten fabrics, throw out some, mark some for our Quilt Guild Fair in the summer, and find unfinished projects along the way.  Now I have a pile of quilts that just need the border sewn on, or a back made, or a border fabric purchased, or take to the quilter.  Most things are put away neatly...............for now.  But as soon as I start work on the next project, the room will look like a tornado struck again.

A couple of FINISHES!!!

I really have been sewing a lot but only have 2 completely finished to share today.
I made these Santa Faces several years ago.
I finished the one for my friend, Janine, but never
got around to completing one for myself.
All I had to do was add the bell on top of the hats
and French Knot eyes for the faces.
I finished it in time for Christmas!

A cute neighbor girl got married a few days ago and I finished a quilt for her.
I love this pattern and have made it in a couple different color ways.
I love the 4 different fabrics for borders.
Several of the blocks were already made and given to me by a friend, Leslie.
She didn't think she would ever finish it so was cleaning out her sewing room.
I was the lucky recipient.

The back is made from some blocks that were made with bright white instead of Kona Snow
so I added them to the back along with fabric remnants.
I love when the back is interesting too.

I have several quilt tops ready to be quilted too.
Red and white Churn Dash
2 Christmas Twisters
Scrappy Fun
Green Rail Fence

I have also started a Purple HST Carpenter's Wheel
that I totally love!
