Yep........I'm keeping busy!

My Granddaughter, Ellie, turned 8 years old.
She wanted a Build a Bear.
Off we went and an hour later we had a cute little bear
and a happy little girl!
We made matching pajamas for them both.
A month and a half later I took my Grandson, Gavin,
but I forgot to take a picture of his blue pajamas.

In my sewing room ongoing cleaning out I found a cute baby panel.
Took it to the quilter (no I don't hand quilt any more!)
Now it is ready for a Great Nephew being born in November.

Aren't the animals just so cute!

A couple more views.

Orange polka dot binding................perfect.

I got together with a friend who wanted to make zipper pouches.
She ended up making about 2 dozen of them.
I settled for 3 so far.
They are quite addictive tho!

This is what I am finishing up right now.
Another Grandson is graduating from high school in Arkansas in May.
When they come for visits to Utah he always asks his Mom to drop
him off up in the mountains with just a knife and a sleeping bag
and see if he could survive on his own for 3 days.
He loves our mountains.
Luckily, she never caved in and let him try it.
I thought a Mountains Majesty quilt would suit him fine.
I used all Autumn scrap fabrics and even used up a ton
of scraps for the back.  Right now I'm adding the
striped binding.  More pictures on this one later.

I delivered 5 big bags of fabric and UFO's to a quilter in our area who has a whole group of women who sew for her.  They make quilts, backpacks, toys and stuffed animals for several different humanitarian projects.  She had a bedroom full of finished things and a kitchen full of partially finished things ready to deliver.  She did say that all the stuff in her home right now will be delivered before the end of the year.  She had several thank you notes from fireman, policeman, agencies, life fight, etc.that they had delivered donations.  I felt that it was a worthy organization to donate my extra fabrics and UFO's.

So not this year!

I got this far and quit!  Yep, I quit!
Just didn't like the way it was going together.
The white fabric that had to be folded over the 4 patch
seemed to pull and buckle and give me fits.
I was just getting frustrated
and so I
QUIT!!

But since then I have pulled it back out.
No hurry this time.
And now I have each of the rows complete.
I even have a few rows sewn together.
It is a slow process since I have to sew and fold and sew and fold.
It certainly isn't my favorite quilt
but it is getting closer to being a finished quilt.
Who knows, maybe it will be done for next year!

Patriotic quilt.............may even be ready by the 4th of July!

Trying to use up some red and blue fabrics.
2 patches being sewn into 4 patches.
10 inch white circles cut and marked.

Still need to cut batting squares but that will be quick.

This will be a circle quilt where I will sew the white circles together
on the pencil lines.  When I get a row, then I add
the 4 patches and sew the white circle edge down to
hold the 4 patch in place.

I've been wanting to make one of these for a long time.
Hope it goes together as easy as I think it will.

Love the colors of Spring and Summer!

We finally purchased some pots and filled them with
flowers for the high chair.
Purple and yellow is the theme this year.
I always love petunias because they
just keep blooming and blooming!

We don't plant a garden anymore
mostly because neither my husband or I
want to take care of it (read that as too lazy).
But we did plant a tomato in a pot.
Lots of little flowers and a couple of tomatoes already.

I painted the big flower on the garage door last year.
My husband added a new white vinyl fence and arbor this year.

I do love my purple wooden highchair!!

Just what is a Lap Desk???

A friend mentioned that she didn't know what a lap desk was.
So I took a picture of the one I received as a gift from a friend.
This is the pillow side that is stuffed with fiberfill.
It sits on your lap.

This is the desk side which is a piece of 1/2 inch board that is smooth and hard.
It is a nice place to put a card or paper when writing.
Or a place for a book or magazine to rest while I am sitting on the couch and trying to read.

This is a side view.
We took a piece of rectangle fabric a little larger than the board.
Made box corners on it.  Then made piping out of a contrasting fabric, sewed
it on and then glued it down to the board leaving an opening
to stuff in the fiberfill.

I have to admit it took us 3 hours to make the first one
but only about a half an hour to make the next one.

Lap desks, bindings and in progress!

A friend gave me a lap desk and then showed me how to make them.
I made Ellie a sweet flowery one to match her sweet personality.

Gavin got one that he says is covered in eyes....watching him all the time.

Wyatt's is covered in monsters......he wouldn't look at me for the picture.

I'm still trying to get rid of scraps!!
9 patches and hour glass blocks make up this picnic quilt.
Since I took this picture I have added a blue stop border.
Now I need to add a scrappy outer border and it will
be ready for the quilter.

Why don't scraps ever diminish???

I finally put the binding on this purple marvel.
Purple is my favorite color.
This quilt will look great in our purple guest bedroom.
I used a lavender flannel for the back.

This quilt was made from a fabric I got for another project and never got around to making.
It has 4 different border fabrics.  I love the bright blue binding.
It will be given to a young couple who are getting married the first part of June.

A Little of This and a Lot of That!

I haven't posted anything for a long time but that doesn't mean I've been slacking!
My husband found this old wooden high chair in a pile of stuff ready to go to the dump.
He knew I would love it so he picked it up and brought it home.
It is missing some rungs.  The seat is splitting and the tray is warped!
But I love the way it looks now all painted purple.
In a couple weeks there will be flowers growing in a pot in the center of the seat.
Won't that be beautiful????

Our 5 year old Grandson, Gavin, always sends me poop emoji on my phone.  He thinks it is so funny.
So when I found these poop emoji cupcakes we had to make them.
As you can see, he couldn't wait to start eating the frosting.

Our  7 year old Granddaughter, Ellie, is more into making something pretty to wear.
When she took her turn spending the night with Grandpa and Grandma
she made a bright button bracelet and belt.
It took a couple of hours to string all those buttons on but she stuck with it
and now has something fun to wear.

My friend, Janine, gave me some more fabric.  This time it was Christmas fabrics
in browns and reds.  I added solid fabric bows and now have the beginnings of
a Christmas quilt for someone in a few months.
It still needs a border.
It was so fast and easy.
The quilt on the right, Delectable Mountains, is the start of a quilt
for another Grandson, Spencer, who will be a senior in High School this
next year.  I now have the top finished and it is ready
to go to the quilter.
I think he will love it.
I chose mountains because when they used to visit us here in Utah from Arkansas,
he would always ask his Mom to take him up and drop him off in the
mountains and let him see if he could survive with just a couple of tools
and a little food.  He wanted her to come back in 3 days to pick him up.
Luckily, she never gave in and did it but he sure begged a lot!

Often when Ellie and Gavin come over they like to go into my sewing room, cut up
lots of little scraps, and put pins into them and fasten them to
the ironing board.
I can get a lot of sewing in when they are playing with scraps.

During Christmas I made a few Trolls to give away to friends.  They turned out pretty cute.

I had a few left over scraps from a quilt and put them together to make these table toppers.
Of course, they are still just flimsies.
Add them to the pile!

I wanted to make a Snail's Trail quilt.
Love all the pinks.
I think it needs a border but it has been set aside for other projects for now.

Now I need to take the projects I started but never finished and work through them to have a completed project!  I can't believe my Mom would work on only 1 project at a time, and finish it completely before starting another project.
