Lynda's Quilts
Saturday, July 11, 2009
I decided I needed to make some small quilts, frame them and hang them on the dining room wall. This isn't a great picture to see the details in a couple of them but they were fun to do. My daughter, Denise, made the frames for me. Sorry they are a bit skiwampus.....grandkids are here and pretty much the whole house is that way for the week. The upper left is Card Tricks and was very easy. The upper middle is just a Square in a Square with the corners being strip pieced. The upper right is a Star and the simplest one to make. The lower left is paper pieced Log Cabin blocks that are about 1 1/2 inches. It was fun to make but I could never have done it without using paper piecing. The bottom center block is a Dresden Plate that was appliqued onto the background fabric. The lower right was the one that started me on this project. It is tiny little houses and trees that are 1 inch squares paper pieced. I used mostly 30's fabrics in these blocks trying to put in as much yellow, green and purple as possible to match the room. The frames are about 12 inches square.
